Our Roots: A Legacy of Community Support

The Parkville Area Chamber & Economic Development Council (EDC) traces its origins to the Downtown Merchants Association, a driving force behind local business promotion and events in the 1980s and early 1990s. After the 1993 flood devastated downtown Parkville, recovery efforts gave rise to the Main Street Parkville Association, focusing on historic preservation and rebuilding.

Revitalization and Growth

Though the Chamber continued to support local businesses during that time, it wasn’t until 2002 that it underwent a significant revitalization. With the help of dedicated community leaders, the Chamber reintroduced networking events, established a membership model, and expanded its focus on business development.

A Regional Resource

Over the years, the Chamber has grown into a vital resource for Parkville and the surrounding area. It has formed strategic partnerships, relocated to more accessible locations, and broadened its offerings to include educational workshops, community service projects, and popular networking events. Its impact earned it a place among the Top 25 Chambers in Kansas City, as recognized by the Kansas City Business Journal.

Our Mission and Vision

Today, the Parkville Area Chamber & EDC remains committed to promoting, protecting, and strengthening local businesses. With a mission to build business and community relationships, we support our members through engaging events and collaborative initiatives. Our vision is a thriving economic environment where both businesses and residents flourish—together building a vibrant and prosperous Parkville.
